Progress: I make it!


So, everything in the health UI is fully hooked up.  Whereas before, we had Christina's straight health values of Health, Hunger, Thirst, Sanity, and Fatigue, we now have the Power levels of the Mars Rover, and Oxygen levels for when Christina is exploring on foot on the Martian surface.  Hopefully, I can add at least one conversation between Christina and Elkyuru and add at least one antenna installation.  Additionally, health reducing to zero will lead to a death screen!  So this is starting to vaguely resemble a game.

It's unlikely I'll be able to do more in the remaining time than to simply have Christina walk up to a designated point, press a button and the antenna simply appears, but that would at least be the beginning of how the system would work.  In the final version, Christina will have to survey the land to determine what part is the best location antenna installation.  There will also be a materials limit, so it would be entirely possible to install too many antennae too close together.  Judiciousness will be your most important quality in the final form of the game.

Also, I found my old script for this game last night.  It's insufficient for the story, but it's a good starting point, especially since I went into detail about how Elkyuru's language worked, and actually began constructing it.  If you think the alien language is simply going to be coded English, which happens so often in fiction, you are completely mistaken.
